What Can I Bring to the Test?

Scratch paper will be provided for you to work out your solutions to the problems.

You can bring your own pens and pencils.

However, you won’t be able to bring your own paper or any kind or notebooks into the examination room.

Practice at Home without a Calculator

As we have seen in the previous section, the answer to “Can you use a calculator on the Accuplacer” is a resounding “No!”

Since you can’t use your own calculator on the test, you should get used to doing most of the math questions by hand.

Hopefully, this shouldn’t pose many problems for the arithmetic questions and the basic algebra questions.

But, you really need to practice advanced algebra, functions, and trig questions at home without using a calculator.

Also be sure to memorize all of the formulas that you need for the math part of the test.

More Testing Advice

The test is not timed, so slow down and answer the questions very carefully.

This is especially true at the start of the test.

The test is computer-adaptive, so the system delivers questions based on how well you are performing.

If you answer several questions incorrectly at the start, the computer will start giving you easier questions.

These easier questions are worth fewer points, so even if you answer them correctly, your score will be reduced.

SO TAKE YOUR TIME!!

Test & Question Format

You will take the test on a computer.

It won’t be possible to go back to previous questions once you have submitted an answer.

You also won’t be able to skip a question and go forward.

So be very intent on doing your very best on each and every question.
